NextGen Coaches was created by FastModel Sports and CoachingU to do just that: develop the next generation of elite basketball coaches.
The 2019 Final Four in Minneapolis saw two leaders and long-time partners in the basketball coaching industry, CoachingU and FastModel Sports, team up to present the first ever NextGen Coaches event.
An audience of over 250 eager-to-learn coaches from various levels packed a conference room in the Minneapolis Convention Center to hear five current Division I head coaches speak about their personal journeys to the top of the profession. Topics ranged from recruiting, building a staff and program pillars, to professional development and top books for coaches to read. There is no single path to success or to becoming a head coach, and attendees walked away with advice and tools on building their own careers in coaching.
We are thrilled to announce that videos of each presentation have been released courtesy of our good friends at CoachingU.
Here’s a snapshot of the event along with a powerful quote from each elite speaker and coach.
David Patrick – UC-Riverside | “Surround yourself with others who share your same mission.”
Mike Boynton – Oklahoma State | “Smile, speak, serve. If you can do those things with a lot of people, then you’ll have a good network of people who think highly of you.”
🎥: Stetsons @DonnieJones explains why it is important to not only grow yourself, but, to grow your people as well and further their development.

Donnie Jones - Stetson | Grow daily: "Players don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care."
Cuonzo Martin - Missouri | “You have to have a level of work ethic. You’ve got to be aggressive. There’s a fine line between self-promoting, and really just working. You’ve got to outwork others.”
Bob Richey - Furman | "Be convicted in who you are."
