FMS Watch Party: Live XsOs Show For Big Ten Tourney Championship

FMS Watch Party XsOs live Big Ten Tourney Illinois Ohio State

We went live for a FMS Watch Party with a few coaching friends to break down the Big Ten Tourney title game between Ohio State and Illinois.

Sometimes, you just need something a little different in your basketball game coverage. As a sports software company that prides itself on innovation, we took the opportunity to get creative with a livestream to give coach-centric perspective, and of course share FastDraw diagrams, for the Big Ten tournament final.

Coach Andrew Wingreen of Stetson and college basketball analyst Richie Schueler joined FMS contributor Tony Miller along with FMS Content Manager Robbie Lehman to provide a unique game experience for viewers through a coaching lens. We talked trapping, ball screen coverage, out of bounds situations, player development, making adjustments in game and at halftime, plus so much more.

Illinois, the 2-seed, got off to a quick start, capturing an early double-digit lead by a combination of throwing the ball inside to big man Kofi Cockburn and allow dynamic guards like Ayo Dosumnu and André Curbelo. Each player finished with 16 points.

Our panel all knew 5-seed Ohio State had a run coming, and it happened late in the second half through constantly attacking the paint with guard Duane Washington Jr (32 points) and pounding the post with forward Justice Sueing (22 points).

Chris Holtmann’s Buckeyes were able to force overtime, but in the end, Brad Underwood’s Fighting Illini sealed a narrow 91-88 win at Lucas Oil Arena.

Sure, the off season is almost here, but that’s the best time to take advantage of FastDraw! Don’t wait until the fall to start building a library, organizing your XsOs and creating playbooks that will win titles. New subscribers use code MARCHMADNESS to receive our biggest offer of the year.

We often preach to our coaching audience about the benefits of experimentation, calculated risk taking and being open to new ideas, so we took the advice for ourselves and tried something new. Even if you missed the game live, you’ll learn a thing or two from the discussion we had. Hope you enjoy the experiment and we look forward to holding more livestreams as the NCAA tournaments begin!
